What's the role?

As a Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for leading complex tax compliance, tax accounting, reporting, planning, and advisory activities across Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and U.S. jurisdictions. This role serves as a key subject matter expert, ensuring compliance with applicable local, federal, and international tax laws while providing strategic guidance to business partners, supporting audits, driving process improvements, and contributing to the Company’s overall tax strategy and risk management framework.

How can you add value?

  • Lead and oversee income tax compliance activities for Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and U.S. tax jurisdictions, ensuring accurate and timely filings while mitigating tax risks.
  • Manage the tax accounting and reporting processes for Liberty’s legal entities, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and lead support for income tax audits, examinations, and inquiries conducted by governmental authorities.
  • Review, analyze, and reconcile complex tax-related general ledger accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies while strengthening internal controls.
  • Lead the preparation, review, and filing of personal property, real property, municipal license, and volume of business tax returns.
  • Interpret and assess the impact of changes in local, state, federal, and international tax laws, regulations, and legislation, providing recommendations to management and business stakeholders.
  • Conduct advanced technical tax research and develop practical, solution-oriented recommendations for complex tax matters and business transactions.Partner with Finance, Accounting, Legal, Treasury, and other business units to provide guidance on tax implications of strategic initiatives, transactions, and operational decisions.
  • Resolve complex tax controversies, assessments, audits, notices, and disputes with tax authorities, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Identify opportunities for tax savings, process optimization, automation, and risk reduction while promoting best practices across the organization.
  • Lead and support the implementation of tax process improvements, system enhancements, and compliance initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical guidance to junior tax professionals and cross-functional teams, fostering knowledge sharing and professional development.
  • Support the development and enhancement of tax policies, procedures, controls, and governance frameworks.
  • Monitor emerging tax trends, legislative developments, and industry practices to proactively assess potential impacts on the organization.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors and support compliance, SOX, and regulatory initiatives as required.
  • Demonstrates and ensures compliance with the Customer First Philosophy, with all Liberty Latin America's policies and procedures including the Code of Conduct and with Liberty safety standards and procedures.
