Job description

O’Hagan Meyer is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Cash Application Specialist to join our Finance Department. This position is responsible for accurately processing, applying, and reconciling incoming payments to ensure the integrity of the firm’s financial records.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This role works closely with the Accounts Receivable team and other departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely and accurate cash application.

Responsibilities

· Post daily payments, including checks, wires, and ACH transfers to client accounts.

· Process client credit card transactions.

· Research and resolve unapplied payments, NSF checks, and declined credit card transactions.

· Contact clients regarding payment-related issues and discrepancies.

· Process and monitor non-sufficient funds (NSF) activity.

· Ensure proper documentation and application of incoming cash receipts against outstanding receivables.

· Reconcile cash postings, G/L activity, and related transactions on a monthly basis.

· Assist in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting audit requests as needed.

Requirements

· 2+ years of experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or a related accounting role.

· Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.

· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

· Experience with accounting software (Aderant, Juris, LawPay).

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

· High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential information.

  • Strong customer service skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer workstation.

Position Details

· Full-time, Monday through Friday

· Overtime availability required

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: $56,600 – $65,000 annually ($27 – $31 per hour)
