Job description


Scope:
The Sales Manager is responsible for selling hotel guestrooms, catering services, and banquet facilities through proactive client engagement. This role drives revenue growth and profitability by securing new business, nurturing existing relationships, and maximizing total rooms and event sales.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain a strong client base of organizations, associations, social groups, and corporate businesses through proactive inside and outside sales efforts.

  • Develop lasting relationships with key accounts to generate repeat business, group bookings, and convention sales.

  • Negotiate guestroom rates, meeting space rentals, catering, and hotel services within established guidelines; prepare and issue contracts to confirm client requirements.

  • Conduct site tours of the hotel and banquet facilities; host and entertain qualified potential clients in line with company standards.

  • Accurately forecast bookings, revenue, and potential cancellations.

  • Support the Director of Sales in executing sales and marketing strategies to achieve departmental goals.

  • Represent the hotel at trade shows, networking events, and citywide conventions to drive new business opportunities.

  • Deliver exceptional service by responding promptly and professionally to guest requests, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business.

  • Maintain a professional image and uphold brand standards in all interactions and presentations.

  • Act as Manager on Duty when scheduled and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.


Key Internal & External Relationships:

  • Internal: All hotel departments to communicate client needs and expectations; Reservations to confirm room availability; National/Regional Sales to share leads and account information.

  • External: Guests to deliver personalized service; Travel Agencies and CVB partners to promote hotel services; Competitors to monitor market conditions and identify opportunities.


Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Minimum of 4 years of sales experience in hospitality or a related field preferred. Exceptional performance and proven results may be considered in place of degree requirements.

  • Certifications/Licenses: Alcohol Awareness Certification (as required by local/state law); valid Driver’s License.

  • Proven sales and negotiation abilities.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and planning skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and hotel sales systems.
