This Area Business Director role is part of a newly established team supporting a cardiovascular product in the critical care sector. Reporting to the Syneos Health National Project Director, the Area Business Director (ABD) will be responsible for achieving business objectives by hiring and leading a team of Institutional Account Managers (IAMs) and Strategic Business Directors (SBDs) in the successful promotion of products to targeted physicians/accounts within an assigned geographic region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Sales and Access individual contributors focused on IDNs and Hospital systems in the U.S.
  • Recruit and hire team of Institutional Account Managers and Strategic Business Directors for designated territories.
  • Lead, motivate, and direct team, ensuring that they are appropriately trained in product knowledge, contracting, market conditions, brand strategy and tactics, corporate policies, and targeted business planning.
  • Design and implement short and long-term business plans intended to achieve commercial objectives and drive sales revenue with targeted accounts for their areas.
  • Achieve promotional objectives through execution management of specific marketing strategies.
  • Build Business Unit capabilities and synergies as each business unit consisting of IAMs and SBDs that strategically execute in aligned IDNs.
  • Work with leadership to establish appropriate behaviors that will lead to sales growth acceleration in the geographic area.
  • Establish and manage district expense budgets; ensure appropriate return on investment.
  • Manage and evaluate field performance on an ongoing basis and implement corrective/developmental actions as needed. Conduct annual performance appraisals, Field Coaching Reports, and Year End calibration.
  • Provide verbal and written guidance, coaching, follow up, and development of field professionals in all phases of their work.
  • Conduct ongoing discussions and provide appropriate documentation to ensure compliance and adherence to program and legal guidelines.
Job Requirements
  • BA/BS Degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years proven management experience in the institutional environment.
  • 2+ years of Managed Market Leadership preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant pharmaceutical/life science sales experience.
  • 5+ years cardiovascular experience preferred.
  • Multiple President Clubs leading a team is highly preferred.
  • Previous product launch experience within the Hospital space.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage significant scope and/or complexity of portfolio.
  • Proven ability to hire, lead, coach & mentor high performing teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills, especially in project planning, project implementation, and cross-functional team management.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to meet travel demands – 80% time in field; other travel may be required.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $195,000 to $205,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
