We are looking for an industry leader to join CLEAResult as a Director of Business Development!

The Business Development Director supports regional growth by identifying opportunities, building relationships with prospective clients, and helping advance the sales process. This role maintains strong industry connections, monitors competitive activity, and contributes insights that support both regional and national strategies.

Primary Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Collaboration
  • Support BD Managers and regional team members in developing territory plans and pursuit strategies.

  • Provide coaching on prospecting, client engagement, and opportunity qualification.

  • Contribute to a collaborative, accountable, and growth-oriented BD culture.

Business Development & Market Engagement
  • Generate leads and initiate conversations with prospective clients.

  • Maintain industry relationships to stay current on utility trends, regulatory developments, and competitor activity.

  • Help identify strategic partners and participate in developing partnership opportunities.

Regional & National Strategy Contribution

  • Bring national market insights to client conversations and internal planning.

  • Play a key role in shaping national BD strategy through regional experience and market observations.

  • Apply advanced BD concepts, techniques, and standards to improve pursuit quality and client engagement.

Client & Proposal Support
  • Participate in developing proposals and pursuit strategies in collaboration with BD, Solutions, and Delivery teams.

  • Engage with clients to help position the company for new opportunities and renewals.

  • Ensure client needs and market dynamics are reflected in opportunity planning.

Subject Matter Expertise
  • Leverage extensive energy-industry knowledge in client interactions.

  • Serve as a resource for advanced concepts and applications within the business development organization.

Education, Experience & Skills
  • Experience in the energy efficiency industry required.

  • 12+ years with a BA; 10+ years with an MBA.

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Lead major business development efforts

  • Provide national market insights

  • Contribute meaningfully to national BD strategy

  • Develop advanced BD concepts and practices

  • Serve as an expert within the corporation
