The function exists to ensure a strong, sustainable pipeline of qualified opportunities for underwriting while strengthening Beacon's market position, brand, and distribution capabilities.

Role Overview

Business Development at Beacon is responsible for identifying, developing, and managing strategic growth opportunities through partnerships, commercial relationships, and expansion into new markets for Beacon's products and services.

The function exists to ensure a strong, sustainable pipeline of qualified opportunities for underwriting while strengthening Beacon's market position, brand, and distribution capabilities.

Business Development Objectives

Maintain a healthy and forward-looking pipeline of qualified accounts for underwriting review

Build and expand new business pipelines aligned with Beacon's strategic goals

Support profitable growth through market intelligence, positioning, and enablement of Sales and Underwriting

Organizational Structure

Business Development activities are executed by the Business Development Team and are led by the Director of Business Development. The team works closely with Underwriting and Sales, and Risk Management.

Core Responsibilities

Strategy, Planning, and Reporting

Propose, develop, and manage the Business Development Plan

Forecast and report on annual growth, pipeline health, and opportunity conversion

Maintain required reports and performance metrics

Align Business Development strategy with organizational goals

Market, Product, and Growth Development

Identify new markets, products, and service opportunities

Strengthen Beacon's competitive positioning

Develop and manage distribution strategies

Identify and track cross-sell opportunities

Support quote-to-bind performance

Brand, Marketing, and Communications

Promote and protect Beacon's brand

Manage website, digital presence, and social media

Develop industry and broker communications

Represent Beacon at trade associations and events

Sales Enablement and Promotion

Develop sales tools, training, and promotional materials

Support new client contracting and onboarding

Operations and Data Management

Maintain client databases and required documentation
