Job description

Dakota BioWorx is seeking a full-time Business Development Director to join our leadership team in Brookings, SD. As a key figure within our fast-growing biotechnology development and manufacturing organization, you will play an integral role in shaping the commercial and technical trajectory of our non-pharma contract bioprocessing business. What You Need:

  • Advanced knowledge of bioprocessing, including industrial microbiology, fermentation operations, scale-up, downstream separation/purification, and final product finishing
  • Familiarity with contract bioprocessing/CDMO market trends, customer segments, competitive dynamics, and infrastructure requirements
  • Demonstrated marketing and commercial strategy skills, ideally in a technical or biotech environment
  • Interest in a start-up, high-growth, or entrepreneurial environment
  • Exceptional professional presence, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, especially with operations, R&D, and leadership teams

A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred. Advanced degrees with a technical or scientific background are beneficial!


ABOUT THIS ROLE

This is a full-time position. As a Business Development Director, you will serve as the primary advocate for our contract development and manufacturing (CDMO) customers, guiding them from initial business development discussions through to project completion. You will lead proposal development, project scoping, contract negotiations, and ensure that customer requirements are aligned with organizational capabilities. Your responsibilities will include managing customer expectations, coordinating priorities across internal teams, and maintaining open communication to support project success. You will monitor market trends, represent Dakota BioWorx at industry events, and help position the company as a trusted partner and premier provider within the contract bioprocessing sector.
