Position Summary
Southern Land Company is seeking an innovative and highly organized Wellness Director to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of wellness programming across our national portfolio of multifamily, single-family, senior living, commercial, and mixed-use communities. This role will be responsible for developing a holistic wellness platform that enhances resident, employee, and customer experiences while supporting leasing, retention, community engagement, and brand differentiation.
Based in our New York corporate office, the Wellness Director will create scalable wellness initiatives, oversee vendor partnerships, curate property-level programming, develop annual wellness calendars, and ensure consistent execution across all assets. The ideal candidate combines expertise in wellness trends, hospitality, community engagement, nutrition, fitness, and experiential programming with strong operational and project management skills. The salary range for this position is $125,000 to $150,000, based on experience.
Essential Functions
Wellness Strategy & Program Development
  • Develop and implement a portfolio-wide wellness strategy aligned with company brand and business objectives.
  • Create signature wellness programs that can be adapted across multifamily, single-family, senior living, commercial, and mixed-use environments.
  • Establish annual wellness themes, campaigns, and initiatives focused on physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being.
  • Identify emerging wellness trends and evaluate opportunities to integrate innovative experiences into properties.

Programming & Events
  • Create and maintain annual wellness calendars for all communities.
  • Design recurring wellness programming including:
    • Fitness classes
    • Nutrition workshops
    • Mindfulness and meditation sessions
    • Recovery and longevity experiences
    • Family-focused wellness activities
    • Employee wellness initiatives
    • Community health and lifestyle events
  • Collaborate with on-site teams to tailor programming to local market needs.
  • Develop scalable event playbooks, budgets, and implementation guides.

Vendor & Partnership Management
  • Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with wellness vendors, instructors, practitioners, nutritionists, trainers, recovery specialists, and health-focused brands.
  • Build a preferred national vendor network while identifying unique local partners in each market.
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality experiences.
  • Evaluate partnership opportunities with fitness, nutrition, recovery, beauty, and healthcare brands.

Nutrition & Lifestyle Programming
  • Develop nutrition-focused educational content and experiences.
  • Curate healthy food and beverage partnerships for resident events and community activations.
  • Advise on wellness-focused amenity offerings and hospitality experiences.
  • Support the creation of wellness resources, guides, and digital content for residents and employees.

Property & Amenity Integration
  • Partner with Development, Operations, Marketing, and Property Management teams to maximize wellness-focused amenities.
  • Provide strategic input on fitness centers, recovery spaces, spas, outdoor wellness areas, trails, parks, and community gathering spaces.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to Wellness Managers and on-site wellness teams within Southern Land Company's senior living communities, ensuring programming consistency, operational excellence, and alignment with company wellness objectives.
  • Assist in developing wellness-focused programming for new developments and amenity launches.

Brand & Marketing Collaboration
  • Work closely with Marketing to develop wellness-related content, campaigns, social media initiatives, and resident communications.
  • Support grand openings, amenity launches, and special events with wellness-focused activations.
  • Help position SLC communities as leaders in wellness-centered living.

Measurement & Reporting
  • Establish KPIs and reporting metrics for wellness engagement and program success.
  • Track participation, resident satisfaction, retention impact, and wellness program performance.
  • Analyze trends and recommend enhancements to improve engagement and ROI.

Travel
  • Approximately 50% travel

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Wellness Management, Public Health, Nutrition, Exercise Science, Recreation Management, or related field.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in wellness programming, hospitality, luxury residential, fitness, lifestyle management, or experiential marketing.
  • Experience managing multi-location programs and vendor networks.
  • Experience leading, coaching, or managing wellness, lifestyle, recreation, or resident engagement teams preferred.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to travel nationally as needed.
  • Passion for wellness, hospitality, community building, and customer experience.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Certification in wellness coaching, nutrition, fitness, mindfulness, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in luxury residential, hospitality, mixed-use development, or lifestyle brands.
  • Familiarity with resident engagement platforms and community programming technology.
