Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Empire Southwest is looking for a Power Platform Developer to design, build, and own enterprise-grade solutions across our operations. In this role you’ll develop Canvas and Model-Driven Power Apps, create Power Automate workflows (cloud, desktop, and business process flows), and deliver actionable insights through Power BI dashboards and reports — all backed by a well-architected Dataverse data layer.

You’ll also play a key role in our modern data stack, working with data pipelines, lakehouses, and semantic models in Microsoft Fabric to centralize reporting and analytics across the organization. On the AI side, you’ll design and deploy intelligent solutions using Copilot Studio and AI Builder — from custom copilots and conversational agents to document processing, predictive models, and AI-driven automation that extend what the Power Platform can do out of the box.

This is a high-impact role in the Caterpillar dealer ecosystem where you’ll touch parts operations, field service, customer-facing tools, and everything in between. You’ll serve as an integration and application development expert for multiple business areas, partnering closely with operational teams, Information Systems, and leadership to turn complex data into clear business outcomes. If you enjoy solving real business problems with the Microsoft Power Platform and want ownership over the solutions you ship, we’d love to hear from you.

The ideal candidate brings experience with:

  • Power Platform development — Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse, Copilot Studio, and AI Builder
  • Power FX, DAX, and/or Power Query (M) language proficiency
  • SQL and database design; experience with Microsoft Fabric (lakehouses, data pipelines, semantic models), Snowflake, or Azure data services is a strong plus
  • AI / automation design — building copilots, agents, document intelligence, or predictive models with Copilot Studio and AI Builder
  • Dynamics 365 development, REST API / custom connector integration, or other web/application development
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, ALM practices, and solution lifecycle management

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Design, develop, and deploy enterprise-grade applications using Power Apps (Canvas and Model-Driven) to support Company's operational teams and external clients.
  • Develop and maintain complex automation workflows using Power Automate, including cloud flows, desktop flows, and business process flows to enhance efficiency across business areas.
  • Create and maintain operations databases, dashboards, reports, and metrics using Power BI and Dataverse, which includes validating data accuracy and integrity, identifying and researching problematic areas, and advising department leaders on necessary changes and updates.
  • Develop and maintain advanced analysis tools and applications that combine the use of data integration, statistical analysis, advanced modeling, and visualization across multiple data sources.
  • Design and implement complex data models and relationships within Dataverse for scalable application architecture.
  • Document technical designs, user guides, and process flows.
  • Develop metrics to measure effectiveness and efficiency of application solutions to ensure expected results are achieved.
  • Provide support in development of other applications and integrations as directed by leadership.
  • Act as a liaison between operational teams, Information Systems, and external vendors.
  • Provide support for advanced application requests and complex automation scenarios from various departments.
  • Present findings, demonstrations, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform other related duties as may be required.
  • Provide basic/ongoing technical training to assure correct usage of developed apps and flows.
  • Work within and promote corporate values.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse, AI Agents).
