What is a Biohacking job?

A biohacking job involves optimizing human biology through science, technology, and self-experimentation. Professionals in this field work on nutrition, wearable tech, genetic engineering, and cognitive enhancement to improve health and performance. Roles can vary from researchers and consultants to product developers and educators. Biohackers may work in biotech companies, wellness industries, or as independent practitioners. The goal is to enhance physical and mental well-being using data-driven insights.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Biohacking position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a biohacking role, you need a solid background in biology, nutrition, human physiology, and health science, along with practical experience in self-optimization and data analysis. Familiarity with wearable tracking devices, biomarker interpretation tools, and relevant certifications such as Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) or health coaching credentials are often expected. Strong critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills help professionals translate scientific findings into actionable strategies for clients or organizations. These competencies are essential for promoting evidence-based, personalized wellness solutions and effectively guiding individuals toward improved health outcomes.

What are the typical daily responsibilities for someone in a biohacking role?

Professionals in a biohacking role typically spend their days researching the latest health, wellness, and longevity techniques, analyzing biometric data, and developing tailored self-optimization plans. They often work directly with clients or organizations to implement interventions, monitor progress using wearable technology, and adjust strategies based on real-world outcomes. Collaboration with healthcare practitioners, nutritionists, and technology specialists is also common to ensure a comprehensive and safe approach. This hands-on and varied work environment provides opportunities for continuous learning and direct impact on personal and organizational well-being.

What are examples of biohacking?

Biohacking involves using techniques to optimize physical and mental performance, such as implementing specific diets, using nootropic supplements, tracking health metrics with wearable devices, or experimenting with sleep and exercise routines. It often requires knowledge of biology, health, and technology tools to safely enhance well-being. Examples include intermittent fasting, biofeedback, and genetic testing for personalized health strategies.

Job description

Optimum and Southwest Women's Oncology are seeking a dedicated and driven Biohacking Technician to join our high-performance team in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Who We Are

Optimum and Southwest Women's Oncology are two sides of the same coin, precision performance and profound compassion.

At Optimum, we help people become the best versions of themselves, combining cutting-edge medical science, biohacking, aesthetics, and human potential into a single ecosystem of vitality. At SWWO, we help women triumph over gynecologic illness through skill, courage, and heart. Together, we're building something rare: a culture where clinical excellence meets human flourishing where our team thrives as much as our patients and clients do.

Who You Are

You are endlessly curious about human potential how the body works, how it heals, and how it can be optimized.

You love technology, data, and science-backed wellness. You're the person who asks What does this metric mean? and then connects the dots between physiology, equipment, and outcomes.

You enjoy teaching, encouraging, coaching, and empowering people. You bring energy to every interaction and create an experience that feels premium, personal, and highly intentional.

You thrive in an environment where biohacking meets hospitality where precision, safety, and the guest experience matter equally.

What You'll Do

Deliver a High-Performance, High-Touch Client Experience
  • Welcome clients and guide them through their personalized biohacking or recovery sessions.
  • Conduct EGYM body scans, body composition assessments, and biometric evaluations.
  • Explain results in simple, empowering language.
Lead Biohacking & Recovery Modalities with Expertise

You will guide clients through multiple cutting-edge modalities, such as:

  • Cryotherapy
  • Red light therapy
  • PEMF therapy
  • AI-powered adaptive training (e.g., EGYM, AI bikes, metabolic devices)
  • NeuFit or muscle-stimulation technologies
  • Float therapy, SoftWave, MedWave, and other performance recovery tools
  • Compression therapy, recovery boots, and regenerative modalities

You will ensure:

  • Proper setup and safe operation of all equipment.
  • Correct form and optimal usage for every session.
  • Equipment hygiene, cleaning, calibration, and readiness.
Coach Clients Using Data & Personalized Programs
  • Build or support individualized wellness, recovery, and performance programs.
  • Use biometrics, EGYM assessments, metabolic markers, and performance data to personalize recommendations.
  • Track client progress, motivate them, and help them understand their results.
Support Functional Wellness & Lifestyle Optimization
  • Educate clients on recovery science, stress regulation, circadian health, and the role of biohacking in long-term wellness.
  • Reinforce guidance related to behavior change, sleep, hydration, and daily optimization.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, coaches, and aesthetic providers for integrated care.
Drive Operational Excellence
  • Support onboarding, tours, consultations, and monthly evaluations.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and ensure confidential handling of sensitive client data.
  • Assist with opening/closing duties and maintain studio cleanliness.
  • Uphold luxury-grade hospitality standards in every interaction.
Continuous Learning & Innovation
  • Stay up to date with the latest research and tools in recovery, longevity, and human performance.
  • Participate in internal training, cross-training, and continuing education.

What You Bring

  • Experience in wellness, human performance, athletic recovery, physical therapy, personal training, or a related field.
  • Educational background or coursework in Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a closely related discipline (preferred).
  • Personal training certification or experience coaching movement, exercise, or corrective training is a strong asset.
  • High comfort with technology, data interpretation, and device-based training.
  • A genuine passion for optimizing human performance, recovery, and whole-person wellness.
  • Excellent communication and client-service skills able to explain complex concepts in simple, relatable ways.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment.
  • Curiosity, positivity, professionalism, and a willingness to learn cutting-edge tools.
  • Familiarity with modalities such as cryotherapy, red light therapy, PEMF, or muscle stimulation (preferred but not required).
  • Commitment to HIPAA compliance and handling sensitive data discreetly.

The Optimum/SWWO Culture

We move fast, think long-term, and care deeply.
We don't reward activity; we reward impact.
We hire individuals who can self-manage, over-deliver, and elevate the people around them.
We believe kindness and accountability are not opposites they're inseparable.

If you crave comfort, this isn't it.
If you crave mastery, meaning, and measurable impact welcome home.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive salary commensurate with experience, leadership bonuses, health & wellness coverage, and a 401(k) but more importantly, the chance to build a legacy.

Note: This is an full-time in-office position at our Albuquerque New Mexico office.
