Job description

The primary responsibility of the Bindery Folder Operator consists of producing a quality product in a high-speed production environment on folding equipment. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge and skills in folding various printed and coated paper products.

Responsibilities
General Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Must have knowledge in setup and operation of MBO/Stahl Folders, as well as the general maintenance of the equipment.
  • Read, understand, and follow work order instructions and pre-established guidelines to determine set up specifications and perform the functions of the job.
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, procedures, and terminology within the offset bindery field (wrinkles, dog ears, tail of sheet, and offset).
  • Set up and operate the machine to fold, slit, and score printed sheets.
  • Set up and operate folding machine to fold from 1-up to multiple up.
  • Set up and operate folding machine to fold various product configurations.
  • Follow and comply with all company Quality Control procedures and policies.
  • Ability to select, inspect, compare and confirm customer samples.
  • As a team member always assist others when needed or requested.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas of the plant and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to work well with others and function with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrate safe work habits in a manufacturing environment.
Job requirements:
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • 3-4 years of related work experience preferred.
  • Reading, comprehending, and communicating work order instructions verbally and or in writing.
  • Must have essential math skills and read a ruler to 32nds and metric (mm).
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds routinely as well as handle paper rolls up to 42 inches in diameter.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and move between production devices to load and unload materials.
  • Bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting repetitively for extended periods of time.
  • Must be available to work paid overtime as needed.
