Job Description
The Bureau of Customer Support/Information Support Services in the Office of External Affairs has an opening for a Bookbinder in the Graphics and Reproduction Unit to support, troubleshoot, and provide assistance and services. The Graphics and Reproduction Unit provide DOHMH with cost-effective, quality print materials in a timely manner. The Reproduction section produces printed, photocopied, and bound documents, which include manuals, brochures, business cards, certificates, envelopes, forms, flyers, newsletters, plastic signage, slides, and stationery. In addition, this unit produces layouts, negatives, and digital output. Reporting to the Deputy Director of the Graphics and Reproduction Unit to manage and coordinate the safeguarding of highly sensitive, confidential records and documents. Assures all legal standards are fully complied with respecting to care, control, and archival storage.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Under general supervision with very considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgment, facilitate graphics design work to meet customer requirements and provide effective interface between the agency and customers.
- Operates Challenge Cutters, Horizon Perfect Binder and MBO Folders.
- Performs job delivery and distribution.
- Will work with Challenge MS-10A Drill Press, MPC Paper Cuter, Docutech 6135, Image runner Pro 7150, Canon 8150/905 black and White and Color machines and 9075 machines. Adjust machines for paper size and weight, number of copies and pages, and position of folds and stitches as required. Prepares test copies.
- Checks for completeness and accuracy of print job, fine tunes machines se tings for best possible result.
- Sets up machinery, monitors operation of equipment, making necessary adjustments to meet job specifications and produce uniform impressions.
- Maintains equipment to run in good order. Makes any necessary routine repairs.
- Reviews work of other staff members and receive training by staff members on a variety of reproduction machines.
- Performs other printing and bindery work as necessary.
- Perform other assignments as assigned by the Assistant Commissioner and /or Deputy Director.

Qualifications
Qualification Requirements
1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of satisfactory full-time experience in operating various commercial grade machines which assemble, drill, glue, fold, cut and bind printed material; or
2. Three years of satisfactory bookbinding experience operating various commercial grade machines as described in "1" above; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
