Candidate will be responsible for creating detailed cost estimates consisting of materials, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor, and other project related activities to assist Managers and Project Managers in bidding on or determining price of project.

Roles and Responsibilities

The job duties and responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assume key role throughout estimating, bidding, vendor and subcontractor proposal review and purchasing processes
  • Work alongside Director of Preconstruction and Company leadership team to determine bid or no bid
  • Assist Director of Preconstruction in assigning lead estimator for each project based on skillset and schedule alignment
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to direct reports; supervise/mentor the work of other estimators
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs of HVAC equipment and systems, including hydronic and air sides.
  • Ability to develop budgets from narratives during schematic design and through design development and to construction documents
  • Develop bid packages/contract scopes of work for subcontractors, evaluate subcontractor bids and issue contracts
  • Be involved throughout the estimating, bidding, vendor and subcontractor proposal review and purchasing processes.
  • Prepares, finalizes, and reviews preliminary and/or final proposal / submittal complete.
  • Assists leadership team and Project Managers with technical support
  • Develops, evaluates, and discusses possible solutions with Manager, Project Manager, Sub-contractor, Supplier, and/or customer
  • Coordinates selection, pricing, and integrates equipment, controls, and services for each project.
  • Provides leadership to the team, resolve issues and solve problems that arise
  • Performs construction plan review or other requirements as determined by project needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet all of the customers facility requirements
  • Prepares and reviews contract terms and conditions using standard contract templates when applicable
  • Assists Director in developing project fulfillment schedule with project team
  • Resolves major deviations from scope with team after Project Scope Validation
  • Provides knowledge and consultation in the form of developing facility-related solutions for the customers problems. Determines project needs, constraints, and responsibilities to meet the entire customers Building system design and installation requirements
  • Demonstrate a functional acumen to support how solutions will address client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices
  • Visit client sites and project sites to survey conditions and make observations as needed.
  • Assist in the interview and selection of new estimators
  • Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews
  • Collaborates with team members to solicit proper expertise in order to meet customer needs.
  • Assist Director in managing total preconstruction efforts
  • Other such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Company from time to time


Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 10 years experience in the HVAC industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints and construction plans and specifications.
  • Ability to understanding HVAC systems and controls and basic HAVC principles,
  • concepts, and perform calculations
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office related products.

Key Requirements:

  • Regular and supervisory probation period required, if applicable.
  • Random drug testing required.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record required.
