The Assistant Preconstruction Manager will support the Preconstruction and Estimating team in the planning, budgeting, and coordination of steel construction projects. This role involves working closely with clients, engineers, and internal teams to ensure that project goals are met efficiently and within cost constraints. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a passion for construction planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing conceptual and detailed cost estimates for structural steel projects.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs, pricing, and scope review of bid documents.
  • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand scope and risks.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop project budgets and schedules.
  • Help identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
  • Assist in preparing bid packages, proposals, and contract documentation.
  • Maintain and update preconstruction databases and historical cost information.
  • Participate in client meetings, pre-bid meetings, and site visits as needed.
  • Support the development of project feasibility studies and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and industry regulations during the preconstruction phase.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1-3 years of experience in estimating, preconstruction, or a related construction role.
  • Knowledge of structural steel fabrication and erection processes is preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction estimating software (such as Bluebeam, OST, or ProEst) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project).
