Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Work-based Learning Coordinator provides district-level leadership for the implementation, accreditation, and reporting of Colorado's "Big Three" career and college readiness requirements, ensuring compliance with SB 25-315 and HB 25-1278. The role develops and operationalizes a comprehensive district work-based learning system by establishing policies, procedures, employer partnerships, and high-quality student experiences such as job shadows, internships, apprenticeships, and paid or unpaid work experiences. This position will work directly with building leaders, counselors, teachers, and students at Englewood High School and Colorado's Finest High School of Choice to implement work-based learning programming. In addition, the coordinator expands and aligns industry-recognized credential opportunities with Career and Technical Education (CTE) coursework and labor market demand, monitors industry trends, and leads state reporting on credential attainment. Across all areas, the coordinator builds and manages data systems in Infinite Campus and SchooLinks, prepares reports for district leadership, the Board of Education, and state agencies, and collaborates with district and school-based leaders to expand access, strengthen quality, and improve student outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and Lead Work-Based Learning Program

  • Develop the vision and infrastructure for a work-based learning program in Englewood.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Secondary Success to develop policies and procedures, including internship agreements, employer packets, student contracts, etc.
  • Develop partnerships with employers to provide Englewood students with work-based learning opportunities, including job shadows, internships, apprenticeships, and paid or unpaid work experience.
  • Work collaboratively with counselors, CTE faculty, and building administration to ensure the academic quality and integrity of work-based learning opportunities and to promote these experiences to students and families.
  • Collect and analyze student data for state reporting and trend analysis, using work-based learning experiences to measure program effectiveness. 

2. Coordinate Industry-Recognized Certifications

  • Increase the number of industry certifications offered at both district high schools
  • Work with teachers to align industry certifications with their course content
  • Monitor and stay current with industry trends and employer demands
  • Collect and analyze student data for state reporting and trends in certificate completion to measure program effectiveness.

3. Manage Reporting for "The Big Three"

  • Lead all state reporting on concurrent enrollment, industry-recognized credentials, and work-based learning, including building the technical systems in Infinite Campus and Schoolinks for data collection.
  • Prepare reports for district leadership, the Board of Education, and state agencies as required.

  • Accurately project needs for budget planning.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and school system policy.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree. (preferred)
  • Associate's degree with 4,000 hours of verified occupational experience or 3 years of active duty in the US Military.
  • Three (3) years of demonstrated experience developing strong partnerships with businesses, industry, and community partners. (preferred)
  • Experience managing work-based learning experiences for students. (preferred)
  • Experience with Infinite Campus and Schoolinks. (preferred)

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

  • A valid Colorado administrator license. (preferred)
  • A valid Colorado teacher license in any secondary (7-12) content area, or a valid Colorado CTE authorization or a valid Colorado Special Services license
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Colorado Secondary CTE Work-Based Learning Coordinator credential within 6 months of hire. (required)
  • Valid Colorado Driver's Licens. (required)

  • Lead problem-solving efforts to address barriers to postsecondary success.
  • Exercise professional discretion when handling student cases and developing programs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Google Workplace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, Drive, Calendar) and Infinite Campus.
  • Effectively work with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Proficient in comparing, computing, synthesizing, and evaluating information.
  • Meet attendance standards and work the necessary hours to fulfill essential responsibilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Uphold a generally positive attitude.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and District policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequent lifting of 5 (five) to 10 (ten) pounds.
  • Occasional lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Frequent sitting, bending, walking, and standing.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, squatting, and reaching.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate due to student activity.

REPORTS TO: Director of Secondary Success

LOCATION:  Roscoe Davidson Administration Building, with work at Englewood High School and Colorado's Finest High School of Choice.  This position is required to be performed on-site at our physical location and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements.

SALARY: 

Salary placement $37,500 - $47,500 based upon education and related experience.
