Company Description
The automotive industry is currently undergoing the most disruptive changes since its inception, with location being essential to every connected car and autonomous vehicle. We are looking for an experienced and highly agile individual to help grow our footprint in the auto space.
Mapbox is a mapping platform for developers. Our building blocks make it easy to integrate location into any application, and we're working with mobile, web, and every other platform that influences how we move around our planet. Next up for us is cars.
Bring your knowledge of how the automotive industry works, deep understanding of all ancillary players, and innovative ideas to set an entirely new standard. You will need to dive into platform at the technical level, understand how our products can address market opportunities today, and help shape both product and business strategy to leapfrog our competition.
Job Description
  • Be the bridge between our development team and the auto industry's needs as well as limitations.
  • Package up our building blocks for the auto industry. You'll lead product design and strategy as we enter this industry.
  • Build on your existing network of automotive players to identify, qualify, and close business opportunities. You will be our first contact with many new potential customers and partners, owning the relationship from start to finish.
  • Know the Mapbox platform inside and out. You must be able to effectively pitch to representatives at every level and technical understanding.
  • Synthesize your workflows with our existing Business Team; you may be the lead for automotive, but you will work very tightly with the entire team at the intersection of industries, customers, and processes.
  • Attend technical scrums on a regular basis to stay current on our stack and to be the business voice of our roadmap as it relates to automotive considerations.
  • Represent Mapbox at all relevant conferences and events.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience at the intersection of the automotive industry and location based technology. You should be equally comfortable selling, marketing, and influencing product direction for these types of services.
  • You know who's who, strengths and weaknesses of key players, and grasp current trends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Technical savvy and/or a hunger to learn. We hope you'll teach us something too.
  • Empathy for our engineering processes is essential.
  • Able to move with speed while maintaining accuracy.
