Job description

The Engineering Services Technician provides technical assistance to project engineers with design, build-up, assembly, instrumentation, and test execution of customer qualification programs, internal research and development (R&D) efforts and experimental evaluation of advanced technology.

In the role of Technician, you will be responsible to work with engineers in component test evaluation efforts with core responsibilities to include:

  • Support design of new test apparatus as required
  • Own the setup, instrumentation, assembly, calibration and specimen preparation of lab test frames
  • Independently run lab tests and perform necessary data checks to ensure data quality
  • Support hardware and software architecture and programming of Data Acquisition Systems
  • Interface with internal and external shops, vendors and team members, including project engineers, test/machining associates and facilities maintenance associates.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with test apparatus.
  • Coordinate and work closely with teammates to execute lab team objectives
  • Ownership of developing test documentation including facility, frame build, and data sets

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High school diploma. An Associates Degree in a technical and/or relevant test or engineering experience is a plus.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Familiarity with the assembly and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with the use of measurement devices and data acquisition.

Desired Characteristics

  • Highschool Diploma / 2 yr Technical Degree preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Comfortable utilizing standard precision measuring instruments such as micrometer or vernier calipers.
  • Comfortable with MS Word and MS excel. Lab experience, Hydraulic or Electronics background would be a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills.
  • Demonstrated success in a cross-functional team environment
  • Be willing and capable of working in a hands-on testing environment
  • Experience using and/or programming Labview or other data acquisition systems
