About the Role
We're looking for an outgoing, relationship-driven professional who enjoys connecting with people, building partnerships, and identifying opportunities to help individuals and businesses achieve their financial goals. As a Community Development Officer, you'll serve as a key ambassador for Southland Credit Union by developing community partnerships, expanding Select Employee Groups (SEGs), generating business opportunities, and increasing membership throughout our service areas. Major Duties and Responsibilities
What You'll Be Doing
  • Develop and grow relationships with businesses, community organizations, and Select Employee Groups (SEGs)
  • Generate new membership, lending, and deposit opportunities through networking and referral partnerships
  • Represent the credit union at community events, employer visits, financial wellness workshops, and outreach activities
  • Develop strategic partnerships that increase brand awareness and support growth initiatives
  • Partner with branch teams and internal departments to create an exceptional member experience
  • Track business development activities and identify opportunities for continued growth

Knowledge and Skills
What You'll Bring
  • Two or more years of experience in business development, outside sales, relationship management, banking, credit unions, or financial services
  • Strong networking, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to develop new business opportunities while maintaining existing partnerships
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Communications, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Ability to travel locally for meetings, community events, and business development activities
Schedule & Travel
  • Local travel of up to approximately 70% is required based on business needs, community events, networking opportunities, and partner visits. The primary territory includes areas surrounding our locations in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, and Downey.
  • Work hours vary based on scheduled events and business needs. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends is required to support community outreach, networking events, and organizational initiatives.
