Job Title: Applications Engineer
Location: Swagelok Texas Mid-Coast – Richwood, TX
Department: Engineering & Design Team

Salary: $65-$85K


Reports To: Custom Solutions Estimating Manager

Job Overview: Swagelok Texas Mid-Coast is seeking an Applications Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Applications Engineer will work closely with both customers and internal team members to provide technical support, assist in product selection, and offer customized solutions that meet client needs. This role requires proficiency with SolidWorks, knowledge of engineering principles, and the desire and ability to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Design: Assist customers in designing fluid and gas handling systems, including pipe, tube, valve, and fitting integration. Translate fluid system P&IDs into 3D SolidWorks drawings.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical expertise to customers and the sales team regarding Swagelok products and services. Assist in product selection and system design based on specific customer requirements.
  • Customer Interaction: Work directly with customers to understand their system challenges and provide solutions that involve Swagelok products.
  • Application Engineering: Analyze and evaluate customer needs and recommend solutions, including system integration of Swagelok products.
  • Estimating: Prepare detailed estimates outlining scope of work, cost, and providing technical clarifications.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose issues within fluid and gas systems and recommend effective solutions utilizing Swagelok products.
  • Technical Compliance: Reading and understanding customer specification documents to ensure that proposed solutions adhere to customer site requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with industry trends, new products, and emerging technologies. Participate in product development and improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in a related engineering role such as project engineering, manufacturing engineering, production engineering, or a similar discipline is desirable (recent graduates will be considered).
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks) software and other engineering tools.
    • Strong knowledge of fluid and gas systems, piping, valves, and fittings.
    • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite
    • Ability to read complex P&IDs and translate them into system layout drawings.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to handle multiple assignments, prioritize workload and shift work activities to maintain schedules, project milestones, meet business needs, and exceed customer expectations
    • Ability to troubleshoot complex engineering problems.
    • Ability to understand customer needs and translate them into technical solutions.
    • Customer-oriented with the ability to build strong, lasting relationships.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a lab or field environment, which may require light lifting or handling of products and tools.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites or Swagelok locations may be required.
