Job description

The Applications Engineer is responsible for reviewing new design drawings and data for manufacturability and creating an estimation of cost for the design. The Applications Engineer will report to the Director of Technical Sales.

Essential Job Duties

Must have strong desire to understand manufacturing requirements and processing limitations related to flexible circuits, heaters and rigid-flex circuits.

Able to create costing for jobs and transfer all necessary information to set up team.

Able to review quality clauses and document necessary exceptions and deviations.

Serve as liaison with All Flex in customer issues related to a specific situation.

Responsible for assisting and educating employees in the building of new jobs.

Respect the confidentiality of company and customer information.

Participate in meetings with other Engineers, Area Supervisors, Sales, and other staff relative to application of consolidated knowledge and experience to promptly resolve problems, processes, drawings, design, specifications, materials, quality, etc.

Support the sales team in technical discussions and in estimating costs for new parts.

Pursue personal growth and continued learning and/or training in areas of processes and circuit design or customer satisfaction.

Demonstrate tact and good judgment in handling difficult problems.

Qualifications

Education

Associate's Degree in in engineering, math or science required, Bachelor's Degree preferred

Experience and/or Training

Three to five years of product and/or manufacturing experience with flex circuits, flex heaters or circuit board industry related engineering or applied sciences.

Knowledgeable in at least one of the following product lines; Flex, Rigid-Flex, Heaters, QuantumFlex, CatheterFlex, and assemblies

Knowledge and understanding of concepts, contents and application of ISO 9000 is helpful.

Working knowledge of manufacturing, production, mechanical and quality concepts and application including Lean Manufacturing, SPC and Total QC.

Must be a problem solver with an investigative spirit, attention to detail, well organized and the ability to question and work within a team environment.

Must possess excellent communication skills in the English language - both written and verbal.

Must be team player with ability to interface and clearly communicate with different groups throughout company.

Technology/Equipment

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and data entry.

Travel

Travel to key customers will be required as driven by the program.
