Senior Mechanical Engineer/ Professional Engineer

OEI (O’Brien Engineering & Architecture) is seeking a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer/Professional Engineer with 10+ years of experience to join our team. The Senior Mechanical Engineer/PE will focus primarily on the design of Department of Defense (DoD) and federal projects, including medical/government facilities, retail/commercial spaces, and institutional facilities, using Revit and AutoCAD software.

This position will collaborate with a multidisciplinary A/E team and work on a variety of projects, including municipal, land development, private, industrial, healthcare, military/defense, and other projects. The successful candidate will provide subject matter expertise in Department of Defense design projects.

Senior Mechanical Engineer/ Professional Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical design in MEP related projects working alongside and coordinating with all disciplines and clients.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, time management required.
  • Design background and understanding of systems and applications in buildings and facilities, including coordination with other disciplines – mechanical, electrical, civil, structural and architectural.
  • Assists in determining and developing project scope.
  • Assists in collection of field data, including directing subconsultants.

Senior Mechanical Engineer/ Professional Engineer Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Mechanical design experience required.
  • 6+ years of Department of Defense (DOD) design experience.
  • Minimum of 5 projects as DOR/EOR
  • Proficiency in understanding building codes and standards.
  • Detailed knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes and standards: UPC, IPC, IMC, NFPA, ASHRAE & IBC.
  • Design experience including HVAC, building automation controls, and plumbing (preferred).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, time management required.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
  • Experience with Bluebeam PDF software (preferred).
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas (or license in another state with the ability and commitment to obtain Texas license within 12 months.), LEED accreditation (preferred).
