Job description

OSI Optoelectronics is seeking an Associate Applications Engineer. This individual will partner with end customers and internal stakeholders to define product requirements, develop proposal drawings/specifications, and build cost sheets that support sales quotations. They will also supports prototype builds and production transfer by developing test/assembly procedures, providing technical customer support, collaborating with Test Engineering and QA on application-specific concerns, and helping develop new catalog products and qualify vendors for OSM requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Generate Cost Sheet by working together with internal stakeholders (e.g., engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, program management) and vendors to obtain cost information and delivery schedules for the materials and products.
  • Communicate with customers for new OEM opportunities and obtain product requirements and project description.
  • Propose feasible and cost-effective detector design that meets customers' requirements and create related proposal drawings or specification sheets.
  • Establish test and assembly procedures for prototype builds and assist in the information transfer to Manufacturing.
  • Work together with manufacturing and the QA team to resolve any customer issues and ensure timely delivery of new products.
  • Assist customers with technical queries related to the use and operation of products in the form of daily technical support inquiry (e.g., troubleshooting, setup guidance, best practices) through the web and phone line.
  • Assist in the development of new catalog products including establishing specifications, cost sheets, test and assembly procedures and qualification of vendors.
  • Perform cost analysis, design review, and continuously identify new ways for cost saving without compromising product quality.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics Engineering or related field with preferred educational background in optoelectronics/microelectronics desired.
  • Good communication, administrative, and organizational skills needed.
  • Technical knowledge of discrete semiconductor components, Silicon, InGaAs photodiode, LEDs, electronic circuits, electrical components and CAD drafting experience are desirable.
  • Must have experience with AutoCAD and MS Office: MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with interpreting and creating technical documentation (e.g., specifications, drawings, BOMs, test procedures) to communicate requirements clearly to cross-functional teams desired.
  • Ability to solve problems and investigate issues with data, identify root causes, and drive corrective action across teams desired.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation, revision control, and clear records of assumptions and test results.

Pay may range from $33.65 to $37.50 hourly
The pay range above represents annual base salary only. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations.
Base salary is one component of your total rewards package. You may be eligible for long-term incentives, potential discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discounted rate through the Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP). OSI also offers comprehensive benefits including various options for health plans, access to 401(k) retirement plan, health savings account, disability insurance, life insurance, AD&D insurance, leave of absence programs and an array of voluntary benefits.
