York Gardens Senior Living is proud to be part of the vibrant Edina community. Our senior living is conveniently located near public transportation and the crossroads of Highways 100, I-35W and I-494. We have 76 Assisted Living, Memory Care and Enhanced Care apartments in a warm, friendly, convenient community.
We are seeking a dynamic Executive Director to lead daily operations and inspire a high-performing team committed to exceptional resident care and service.
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership and 24/7 operations of the assisted living community. This includes oversight of financial performance, staffing, resident satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and strategic growth initiatives. This role is ideal for a collaborative, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced senior living environment.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Build and maintain a high-performing leadership team
  • Set and monitor operational and performance goals with department leaders
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and payroll accuracy

Financial & Operational Management
  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget
  • Monitor monthly financial performance and implement strategies for improvement
  • Partner with corporate leadership on financial reviews and planning
  • Ensure efficient operations across all departments

Resident Experience & Quality of Care
  • Maintain a strong presence within the community, engaging with residents and families
  • Lead customer service standards and ensure high satisfaction levels
  • Oversee grievance resolution and quality improvement initiatives
  • Implement and maintain QAPI programs to support clinical quality and risk management

Billing & Administrative Oversight
  • Oversee monthly resident billing processes and ensure accuracy
  • Support collections, deposits, and coordination with accounting teams
  • Address resident and family billing inquiries

Sales, Marketing & Occupancy
  • Partner with sales leaders to develop and execute occupancy strategies
  • Monitor census trends and adjust strategies to meet goals
  • Support tours and prospect engagement as needed

Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, including Minnesota Assisted Living licensure requirements
  • Lead survey readiness and manage regulatory surveys end-to-end
  • Maintain oversight of employee training compliance and policy adherence

Facilities & Community Operations
  • Ensure the building and grounds are well-maintained and safe
  • Provide direction and oversight to maintenance and operations teams

Ownership & Stakeholder Relations
  • Serve as liaison with ownership, providing regular updates on performance
  • Maintain strong relationships with corporate partners and community stakeholders

Required Qualifications
  • Less than 1 year experience
  • Licensed Assisted Living Director (LALD)
  • Licensed Health Services Exec by BELTSS Board
  • Meets requirements for Assisted Living Director - In Residence (ALD-IR) by obtaining a permit from BELTSS as an ALD-IR within 30-days of hire date and have experience in the management of an AL or related facility or must be enrolled in a BELTSS approved program within six (6) months of permit issuance (Refer to MN Rule 6400.7080B). Required to graduate from approved program, complete the field experience and pass the examinations within one year of hire date.
