The Assistant to the Executive Director for Special Education is responsible for the leadership and coordination of the Intermediate Unit 1 (IU1) special education programs for students ages 3-22.
This Executive Leadership Team Position, serves as a liaison to the Pennsylvania Department of Education, member school districts, parents/families, and community agencies in the area of special education.
This position oversees the regulatory compliance of the Early Intervention and School-Age Special Education Programs, while ensuring students with disabilities receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education.
The requirements for this position include:
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience
  • PDE Supervisory/Principal Certification

  • Superintendent Letter of Eligibility
