Job Description SummaryOrganization's Summary Statement:
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore invites applicants to apply for a full-time, twelve-month tenured track faculty position. Librarian Rank will be assigned at the initial appointment to the position. This is a 40 hours per week evening position Sunday - Thursday 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The schedule during the intersessions and summer will be assigned.

Responsibilities:
Provide and administer evening reference services in-person, by email, or
phone during regularly scheduled evening hours while maintaining the print
and digital reference collections, research guides and subject guides on the
library website.
Teach library instruction sessions as assigned, using the integrated library
system and multiple. databases as the library liaison and co-instruct the
one credit hour LIBR 100 Online Information Literacy course.
Supervise the library services technician and work study assistants.
Maintain and provide analysis of library reference statistics on an hourly
basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Graduate degree in library science or related degree from an ALA
accredited institution.
Must have familiarity and experience using and searching online catalogs,
discovery tools and electronic databases
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of library reference and electronic resources including the
online catalog, discovery tools & databases.
Must have the ability to work closely with colleagues and library users from
diverse backgrounds.
Must demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering quality public
service.
Knowledge of emerging information technology trends.
Ability to conduct effective library instruction.
Physical Demands:
May require extended periods of standing, bending, sitting at desk.
May require lifting up to 25 lbs.
Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally and
internally.
Requires operation of a variety of office equipment.
Preferences:
One to two years of reference experience in a school or academic library.Additional Job Details
