Position Summary:
The Technologies and Reference Librarian oversees library technologies at the HBS Library and serves as the primary contact for electronic resource support at Rowan-Virtua SOM, ensuring seamless access and functionality for students, faculty, clinicians, and researchers. In addition, this librarian provides reference and instruction services that support the educational, research, and clinical missions of Rowan-Virtua SOM and Virtua Health College programs.
 
This role requires commitment to user-centered service, and the ability to work collaboratively across academic, research, and clinical environments.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
This is a full-time, non-tenure, unionized position (AAUP) that requires working one weekday evening and is primarily onsite at the Stratford campus. Occasional work from other Virtua Health College locations as required. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty to a high level and deliver superior customer service. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Technology Management:
Administers Springshare platforms (LibGuides, LibAnswers, LibCal including template development, FAQs, and content creation
 
Collaborates with HBS Library staff to establish policies, standards, and procedures related to technology and library systems; coordinates with Rowan University Libraries (RUL) to align system-wide settings and best practices.
 
Serves as content manager for the HBS Library website, ensuring consistency with RUL and Rowan University standards, workflows, and design principles.
 
Acts as the primary HBS Library representative on RUL technology teams, leading efforts to evaluate, implement, and manage library technologies and systems.
 
User Support & Troubleshooting:
 
Provides end-user support and technical troubleshooting for library resource access and systems, both on- and off-campus.
 
Develop FAQs, tutorials, and help documentation to assist users in resolving technology issues.
 
Reference and Instructional Services:
 
Provides reference services and research consultation, including mediated and unmediated medical and biomedical literature searches and support for evidencebased practice in clinical, educational, and research contexts using all available databases and internet resources.
 
Designs and delivers formal and informal instruction in virtual and classroom environments.
 
Outreach and Professional Development:
 
Serves on Rowan University Library committees, task forces, and teams, as well as on appropriate Rowan-Virtua SOM and Virtua Health College committees and task forces. (e.g., Library Systems Committee).
 
Maintain expertise in health sciences information resources and instructional technologies.
 
Engage in professional activities and contribute to the advancement of health sciences librarianship.
 
Compliance:
Adheres to Rowan University's compliance standards, including the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
 
Maintains awareness of all relevant federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies.
Performs other related duties as required.
 
Required Education and Experience:
 Master's degree in Library Sciences or Information Technology from an ALA accredited program
 
At least 2 years of academic library experience
 
Demonstrated proficiency in technology-based library systems and resources
 
Experience with providing library end user support and instruction
 
Evidence of a strong commitment to service in a user-centered environment
 
Flexibility and willingness to take on additional responsibilities as the needs of the library and university evolve
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a health sciences or biomedical library environment
 
Experience with integrated library systems (Alma/Primo preferred) and content management systems (Springhare and Canvas)
 
Knowledge of biomedical literature searching and principles Evidence-Based Practice
 
Salary Information:
 
In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $76,000 to $86,000. When extending any salary offer, Rowan University considers many factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, work experience, education, training, key skills, internal equity, as well as market and other organizational considerations."
