Job Description:

As an Assistant Project Manager (APM) at Five Star Electric, reporting to the Project Executive, you will have the opportunity to:

Project Coordination & Administration

  • Assist Project Manager with daily management of electrical construction projects.

  • Support project planning, scheduling, and execution activities.

  • Maintain project documentation including contracts, drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.

  • Track project milestones and assist in monitoring schedule performance.

  • Coordinate communication between field staff, engineers, subcontractors, and clients.

Cost Control & Financial Management

  • Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.

  • Help prepare monthly cost reports and project status updates.

  • Review vendor and subcontractor invoices for accuracy and approval.

  • Support change order pricing, tracking, and documentation.

  • Monitor material and labor costs against project budgets.

Procurement & Subcontractor Coordination

  • Assist with material procurement and equipment tracking.

  • Coordinate delivery schedules to align with project timelines.

  • Solicit vendor pricing and prepare purchase orders.

  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.

Technical & Document Control

  • Review electrical drawings and specifications for completeness.

  • Process and track RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings.

  • Ensure compliance with contract documents and project requirements.

  • Maintain organized electronic and physical project files.

Field & Safety Support

  • Coordinate with field supervisors and foremen regarding project progress.

  • Participate in project meetings and site walks as required.

  • Support adherence to company safety policies and OSHA requirements.

  • Assist with resolving field issues impacting schedule or productivity.

Client & Stakeholder Communication

  • Participate in owner and subcontractor coordination meetings.

  • Provide timely updates to project stakeholders.

  • Help maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in construction project coordination or electrical contracting preferred.

  • Internship or field experience with an electrical contractor strongly required/preferred.

  • Basic understanding of electrical construction methods and systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.

  • Familiarity with construction project lifecycle and documentation.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Experience with project management software (Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar) preferred.

  • Bluebeam or document control software experience a plus.
