Summary

The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, execution, and completion of assigned projects, ensuring safety, quality, schedule adherence, and budget compliance. This role assists with project initiation, scope management, scheduling, risk mitigation, and progress reporting while working collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders. The Assistant Project Manager is an effective communicator who builds strong working relationships, provides direction and support to field and project staff, and responds proactively to challenges. Success in this role requires sound judgment, adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting project leadership in achieving customer and organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

Interpret and implement contract documents, construction drawings, and specifications into project plans and management practices

Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules; track progress and recommend corrective actions to ensure timely completion

Monitor job costs, hours, expenses, budgets, and WIP to maintain accurate financial projections

Identify, communicate, and document schedule impacts, scope changes, and risks to customers and general contractors

Coordinate change management activities, including customer-initiated changes, approvals, change orders, and cost estimates

Assist in developing project plans that align with contractual, scope, budget, and performance requirements

Support project execution through routine site inspections and coordination with field leadership

Build and maintain effective working relationships with team members, vendors, and internal departments

Serve as a backup point of contact for the Project Manager/Senior Project Manager

Support and guide the training, development, and workflow of Project Engineers and Project Coordinators

Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, safety standards, and company policies

Exercise independent judgment while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

Physical demands include long hours sitting, using a computer, standing, pulling/pushing, walking, lifting, and climbing

Job requires intermediate computer proficiency and advanced critical thinking skills

Other duties, activities, and responsibilities may vary and change as assigned

Education and Experience

Project management certification desired but not required

Associate degree in Project Management or Business Management

Relevant work experience (2+ years) may substitute for the degree or certificate

OSHA 10 certification desired but not required

Must have working knowledge of B&D QA Program, Safety Plan, Change Order Process Controls, and Implementing Procedures

Must have working knowledge of BIM and 3D Construction, Trimble layout, and the benefits of prefabrication
