MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures; experience in a fine arts or music context is helpful
  • Oral and written communication skills and abilities to interact with the public
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to utilize the internet, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Publisher), and database management software
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and complex projects, often simultaneously
  • Desire to serve others
  • Ability to be a team player
  • As needed, ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Experience working with spreadsheets
  • Demonstrate talent in the use of creative graphic arts
  • Ability to lift five pounds and carry it for up to 50 feet
  • Ability to sit for an extended time at a desk

DESIRABLE SKILLS


  • Experience in a prior fine arts or music context
  • Read and understand music scores
  • Understand the role music plays in the Church
  • Experience participating in music ministries of the Church

PRIMARY ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Assisting the Minister of Music with communications (e-mail, phone calls, event marketing, etc.); Utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher to edit and create informative or promotional material; produce mailings throughout the program year; maintain attendance data for all music ensembles
  • Maintain 1,200 plus items in music inventory using database management software
  • Archive and submit invoices for purchases and musician contracting (with approval of the Minister of Music).
  • Organize and coordinate events, logistics, setups, schedules, and persons as requested by the Minister of Music.
  • Work on an as-needed basis to assist the Minister of Music with special events/concerts outside of normal office hours.
  • Assist the Minister of Music by moving chairs, music stands, and boxes of music on a weekly basis, as well as setups for major events.
  • Assist music ministry staff and lay directors as necessary with tasks similar to those listed above (Organist, Contemporary Worship Leader, Friday Singers Director, Children's Choir Directors).
  • Other duties as assigned by Minister of Music.
