Position Summary
The Department of Music in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College seeks a one-year visiting faculty member to teach undergraduate music education courses and to serve as the Music Education Coordinator beginning August 1, 2025. The teaching load for this position is three courses per semester including Introduction to Music Education and Performance Music Methods. Depending on the expertise of the candidate, other courses assigned could be in the areas of the following: Secondary Instrumental Methods, Cardinal Marching Band and Basketball Band, Aural skills, Conducting, Music Theory, Music History, Ethnomusicology, Music Appreciation, and Class Piano.
This position will also serve as Music Education Coordinator. The coordinator's duties include serving as the liaison to the Department of Education, assisting with student placements for practicum and student teaching, helping with department recruiting events and maintaining collaborative relationships with area music educators. Applicants are expected to have minimum 3-5 years of successful teaching experience in K-12 schools (public or private) and a completed Ph.D in Music Education by the time of hiring. ABD considered. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students, and ongoing scholarship.
