Job description

In this role you will touch many areas of the business, contribute in a measurable way across most quality department activities and responsibilities, and own making major improvements to our supplier quality system. This position requires someone who is able to improve what is already there, and create new systems and processes that need to be developed. This is an opportunity to adopt real responsibility and make a difference immediately!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead quality initiatives including updating, improving, or creating new quality management processes, especially supplier quality. (internal, supplier)
  • Drive improvement in Regulatory Compliance management systems.
  • Work with supply chain and purchasing personnel to improve requirements capture and flow down to vendors.
  • Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) efforts. (internal, customer, supplier)
  • Conduct audits to verify compliance, measurement traceability, and system effectiveness. (internal, supplier)
  • Assist engineering to develop, implement, and maintain procedures, work instructions, and control plans consistent with the QMS and industry standards.
  • Support Design and Process FMEAs for calibration processes, and manufacturing methods.
  • Advanced Quality Planning activities. (First Article, PPAP, Process Capability, etc).
  • Oversee nonconforming material control and disposition; ensure prompt communication and resolution.
  • Represent Quality in cross-functional teams for new product introduction, process changes, and customer issue resolution.

Competencies

  • Proficient in Root Cause Corrective Action processes
  • Proficient in Supplier Quality Management
  • Proficient with statistical tools commonly used in manufacturing and calibration. (SPC, MSA, Process Capability Analysis)
  • Proficient working with electrical and mechanical engineering documents like schematics, drawings, and CAD.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office.
  • Experience using ERP software (Infor Syteline experience strongly preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles. Green Belt or higher certification preferred.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in quality engineering.
  • ASQ certified Quality Engineer strongly preferred, other ASQ certifications desirable.
  • Experience working with load cells, calibration, or precision measurement industry strongly preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to handle and maneuver calibration weights and standards up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring extended periods at benches, calibration rigs, and test equipment.
  • Vision sufficient to distinguish fine graduations on instruments and electronic displays.
