Job description

The Engineering Department of NPG of Yuma-El Centro has an immediate opening for an Assistant Engineer.

The Engineering Assistant will work closely with our engineering team to support the technical operations of our multimedia news production. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology, strong problem-solving skills, and a desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced news environment.

Essential functions:

  • Assist with the setup, operation, and maintenance of audio and video equipment for news production.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot technical issues with broadcast equipment and systems.
  • Assist with the installation and configuration of new equipment and software.
  • Collaborate with engineers and producers to ensure smooth operation of news broadcasts and live events.
  • Help maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Provide technical support to newsroom staff as needed.
  • Stay current with industry trends and technology advancements.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Follow and comply with company and government-related safety guidelines/regulations and all company policies while driving, completing assignments and using company-owned equipment.

Competencies:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in a technical role, preferably in a news or broadcast environment.
  • Familiarity with audio and video production equipment and software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours as needed.
