Description:
R&D Interconnect Solutions is seeking an Engineering Technician at our Allentown, PA location. The Engineering Technician will be trained to operate and program production equipment such as pick & place and solder paste reflow equipment as well as measurement instruments, learn CAD/CAM tools, assemble elastomeric product, inspect product, and write and follow standard operating procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Operate manufacturing equipment: set-up, program, operation, and shutdown
  • Read and interpret work instructions and electronic and printed documents and forms
  • Plan and execute complex development projects in collaboration with engineers and other technicians and analyze resulting data
  • Inspect product using microscope and electronic measurement equipment; identify defects and determine root cause of process related issues
  • Identify and segregate Quality related issues
  • Solder small components onto PCB's
  • Solder under a microscope
  • Perform rework
  • Enter data into ERP system
  • Suggest process improvements and cost reductions
  • Follow clean room policies, practice 6S principles in order to maintain a safe, neat, and orderly workplace
  • Adhere to all safety rules and regulations

Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with various inspection tools and electronic test/measurement equipment
  • Ability to solder under a microscope
  • Familiarity with SPC
  • Must hold U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status
  • Position requires the ability to stand/walk for more than 50% of the workday

Essential Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to comfortably and competently communicate with engineers, technicians and operators
  • Good computer skills, fluency with MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to read, write and clearly communicate in English
  • Ability to read and understand standard operating procedures
  • Ability to interpret prints and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail required
  • Ability to produce quality work under pressure - in a quick-turn environment
  • Ability to skillfully utilize a microscope
  • Moderate physical lifting (up to 40 lbs)
  • Experience with electronic component assembly onto circuit boards is a plus

Education:
  • AS or BS Degree in an engineering discipline
