Job description

We are recruiting an Assistant Controller for a company in the Raleigh area. This role is a key leadership role within the accounting function, overseeing the preparation of financial statements and managing the month-end close process. This individual partners cross-functionally to enhance reporting quality, strengthen internal controls, and drive process improvements.

Great opportunity for a hands-on leader who operates with minimal supervision while guiding a high-performing accounting team. Key Responsibilities: Lead the monthly close process and ensure the accurate and timely preparation of internal and consolidated financial statements. Oversee account reconciliations and ensure appropriate review procedures are completed each reporting cycle.

Manage and develop the general accounting team, including coaching, performance oversight, and succession planning. Support quarterly and annual reporting requirements, including preparation of external financial statements and coordination of the year-end audit process. Research and resolve complex accounting matters, providing technical guidance to the team and ensuring compliance with applicable standards.

Strengthen and maintain internal controls, while identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Partner with leadership on special projects, cash management activities, and broader financial initiatives as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

CPA is required. 8+ years of progressive accounting experience. A mix of public accounting and corporate accounting is ideal At least two years of leadership experience overseeing and developing accounting teams.
