Controller
Our client is seeking a Controller to manage project financials from cost tracking through billing and reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and profitability. Responsibilities include:
- Monitor work in progress, project profitability, billing accuracy, and compliance with GAAP, FAR, and contract terms. Track job costs against budgets, investigate variances, and report on profitability.
- Prepare and process client invoices in accordance with billing schedules and ensure accurate revenue recognition.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and FAR, along with cash flow forecasts and operational metrics.
- Manage general ledger reconciliations, prepare journal entries, and assist with annual audits.
- Oversee labor utilization rates, job cost accuracy, employee expense reports, and payroll allocations.
- Support budget preparation and ongoing monitoring, participate in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects, assist with contract review, and serve as backup for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in project accounting or construction accounting
- Strong understanding of GAAP and project based accounting best practices
- Strong knowledge of FAR Part 31
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Unanet ERP or related software
- Background in government contracting or contract compliance environments
