About This Role
Our San Francisco-based fast-growing artificial intelligence client is seeking an Interim Senior Technical Accounting Manager with deep ASC 606 expertise to advise on-and operationalize-the revenue impact of complex contracts across a fast-moving tech environment. This role is highly technical and requires someone who can work in a fast-paced environment, navigate ambiguity, influence contract terms in real-time, and translate conclusions into clear downstream processes for the Revenue Accounting team.
You'll partner closely with Legal, Deal Desk/GTM, and Strategic Finance to evaluate contract language and provisions, draft technical accounting memos, and ensure a clean handoff for month-end. Ideal candidates bring Big 4 foundations plus technology-industry experience.
Pay range: $90-$120/hr, depending on level of experience
What You Will Work On
Technical Revenue & Deal Support
  • Assist with ASC 606 evaluation for complex arrangements-identifying performance obligations, assessing variable consideration, and evaluating contract modifications.
  • Influence and structure commercial terms with Legal and GTM, explaining revenue implications of specific clauses (acceptance, termination/renewal rights, SLAs, usage/consumption mechanics) in clear business language.
  • Operationalize preliminary conclusions: anticipate impacts on billing, systems, and close processes before finalizing guidance and ensuring a smooth handoff to Revenue Accounting.

Revenue Models & Contract Types
  • Support multiple revenue streams: standard SaaS, APR/consumption-based, usage-based, professional services, and bespoke, multi-element agreements (including arrangements with potential equity or vendor components).
  • Perform and/or review SSP analyses-leveraging cost-plus, market benchmarks, or residual approaches-especially for non-standard, custom deals.

Documentation & Templates
  • Own technical accounting memos and position papers; coordinate with external advisors as needed, but drive conclusions internally.
  • Build revenue recognition templates for repeatable deal patterns and participate in the first month-end cycle for new models before transitioning the process to the core revenue accounting team with clear enablement.

What You Will Bring
  • Deep technical ASC 606 knowledge with a track record of structuring complex contracts and translating provisions into revenue outcomes, including drafting and documenting accounting memos and conclusions.
  • Big 4 audit background (highly preferred) plus tech-industry experience; comfort in operating amid moving facts, quick turns, and navigating ambiguity.
  • Strong partnership skills with Legal, GTM/Deal Desk, Strategic Finance, and RevOps; able to anticipate the downstream revenue accounting operational impact of contract terms.
  • Familiarity with Ironclad, Salesforce, and Oracle (or similar ERP) is a plus.
  • Expertise with SSP methodologies and applying different approaches for bespoke arrangements is a plus.
  • Excellent communication-able to distill complex guidance into clear, actionable direction for non-accounting stakeholders.

What You Can Expect
  • An inspirational place for you to do your best work, be engaged in meaningful ways, and continually develop the skills, competencies and qualities that set our team apart.
  • Compensation commensurate with your qualifications, experience, and other factors including geographic location, market and operational factors.
  • Total Rewards include: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, 401(k) Savings Plan, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Professional Development Program, Paid Time Off and Paid Sick Time (in geographies where legally required).
