Accounting Manager

ASC 606 & Contract Accounting Leadership | 9/80 Schedule | Every Other Friday Off

Are you a technical accounting expert who enjoys navigating complex contracts, partnering with business leaders, and mentoring teams? We're looking for an Accounting Manager to oversee revenue recognition and contract accounting across a portfolio of government and commercial programs. This is a high-impact role with significant visibility across Finance, FP&A, Program Finance, and Contracts, offering the chance to influence key business decisions while ensuring financial accuracy and compliance.

Based in San Diego, CA, this position offers a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off, one remote workday per week, and relocation assistance for qualified candidates.

What You'll Do
  • Oversee revenue recognition for government and commercial contracts in compliance with ASC 606
  • Evaluate contract terms and determine appropriate accounting treatment, financial risk exposure, and cash flow impact
  • Support month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and Estimate at Completion (EAC) forecasts
  • Partner with Program Finance, FP&A, Contracts, and Operations teams on financial planning and business initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, FAR, CAS, and government contracting regulations
  • Provide guidance on complex accounting matters and non-routine transactions
  • Develop and coach a team of accounting professionals
  • Coordinate audit activities and maintain strong internal controls
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen controls, and improve efficiency
  • Serve as a key resource on contract accounting and revenue recognition matters
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
  • Extensive experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition
  • Strong background in government contract accounting
  • Experience with fixed-price, cost-plus, and hybrid contract structures
  • Ability to interpret complex contract language and assess financial reporting implications
  • Technical accounting expertise and sound professional judgment
  • Experience leading and developing teams
  • Audit and compliance experience, including interactions with external auditors
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • U.S. Citizenship required
