Position Introduction:
Media & News Member of Esports and Co-Curricular Innovation The University of Oklahoma Division of Student Affairs is looking for undergraduate students who are located in the Norman area to serve as media and news specialists. Media specialists are responsible for script writing, conceptualizing, filming, and editing videos. News specialists are responsible for researching, writing, interviewing, and editing articles.
OVERALL SCOPE
Program Culture & Conduct
  • You are responsible for creating quality videos or articles that reflect the culture and nature of OU Esports & Co-Curricular Innovation. This includes strong planning, time management, and respecting all team members and subjects. Team members serve as representatives of the university and ECCI during all productions and public-facing activities and must keep all interactions respectful and harassment-free.

Availability & Communication Expectations
  • Students are expected to maintain active communication with their respective teams and ECCI leadership. When committed to a project, team members must respond to official team communications (such as Discord and email) within 24 hours whenever reasonably possible.

Media Team Responsibilities
  • The Media Team is responsible for all videos that go out on OU Esports and Co-Curricular Innovation's social media and websites. Specialists must possess knowledge of the video-making process, including filming, editing, and utilizing videography equipment.

News Team Deliverables
  • The News Team is responsible for articles published on the Sooner Esports website and Crimson Collective Journal. Students are expected to adhere to professional journalism standards (AP and OU Esports Style Guides).

POSITION SUMMARY:
  • Combined responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Attending regular weekly meetings.
  • Attentiveness to OU Esports events and overall esport or gaming news.
  • Conducting research and interviews for content.
  • Writing, filming, and editing videos for OU Esports social media.
  • Researching, writing, and editing for OU Esports website.
  • Photography and videography skills.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Must be a current or incoming OU Student and enrolled in the SUMMER and/or FALL
    semester(s).
  • If not yet enrolled for classes, please attach a document explaining actual or estimated application and/or enrollment date in the area reserved for class schedule.
  • Applicants must be located in the Norman or OKC Metropolitan area to be considered for employment.
  • Must be currently in the OU Esports & Co-Curricular Innovation Program.

Skills and Abilities:
  • As a media specialist, showcasing abilities in videography, script writing, video editing, and photography are preferred.
  • As a news specialist, demonstrating abilities in news writing, interviewing, researching, and article editing are preferred.
  • Both specialists require good time management, organization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others as well as subjects for videos and articles.
  • Discord and email communication knowledge is a must for this position.
