The organization focuses on delivering accurate, timely, and community-centered news coverage to a diverse local audience. As a small, mission-driven newsroom, KGTX 7 News offers opportunities for hands-on experience across multiple aspects of news production. Team members collaborate closely to uphold high journalistic standards while highlighting issues that matter most to residents.
Role Description This on-site internship News Reporter role is based in League City, TX. The News Reporter intern will assist in researching, pitching, and developing local news stories across multiple beats, including community events, public safety, and local government. Daily tasks include gathering information from sources, conducting interviews, verifying facts, and writing clear, engaging news copy for broadcast and digital platforms. The intern will also help draft press releases, support social media and web updates, and collaborate with editors and producers to refine stories. This internship is designed to provide practical newsroom experience, mentorship from experienced journalists, and exposure to the full news production process.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess skills in Reporting and Journalism, including source development and ethical news gathering.
