Job description
As a CMM Operator, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the quality and precision of our components. Using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), you’ll inspect parts to confirm they meet exact specifications and high quality standards. This position includes writing and editing CMM programs, partnering closely with the Quality team, and providing inspection and programming support for 3rd shift operations to help keep production running smoothly around the clock.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Operate CMM machines (e.g., MicroVu, OGP Smartscope) to inspect machined parts and assemblies.
- Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) requirements.
- Execute pre-written CMM inspection programs and record results accurately.
- Write, edit, and debug CMM programs (preferably using software such InSpec and Zone3).
- Perform first article, receiving, in-process, and final inspections as required.
- Maintain inspection reports and documentation for traceability and quality audits.
- Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to resolve non-conformances.
- Ensure all measuring equipment is calibrated and maintained properly.
- Support continuous improvement efforts within the inspection and QA processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements:
- Valid identification and the ability to legally work in the United States.
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or associate degree preferred).
- 2+ years of experience operating CMM equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and applying GD&T principles.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Experience with CMM programming using InSpec and/or Zone3.
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of other inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, etc.).
- Experience in medical manufacturing environments a plus.
