Job description

Editor in Chief - VERO BEACH MAGAZINE


The editor-in-chief guides the editorial and artistic content of the magazine and manages every aspect of the production process from ideation to publication. The editor-in-chief reports to the editorial director.


Duties:


  • Manages the magazine’s editorial staff and freelance writers
  • Evaluates pitches and develops article ideas for publication
  • Develops the editorial calendar
  • Develops detailed tracking spreadsheets for each publication month
  • Ensures deadlines are met for efficient publication
  • Ensures all content is accurate and consistent with the magazine’s voice and vision
  • Oversees publication budgets
  • Edits and proofreads as needed
  • Writes articles as needed
  • Attends functions on behalf of the magazine
  • Maintains a network of professional and social contacts within the community
  • Hires and develops staff and freelancers
  • Communicates and cooperates with department heads in production, sales and marketing, and circulation



Requirements:


  • Degree in journalism, English, communications or similar. Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a top editorial role
  • Superior writing and editing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to lead a team with enthusiasm and passion
