Job Description

The Archives Assistant plays an important role in supporting the preservation and organization of Team Penskeโ€™s rich motorsports history at the newly established Heritage Center. This position assists with a broad range of archival functions, including processing, preservation, cataloging, and digitization of historical materials and artifacts.

Working hands-on with video, photography, documents, memorabilia, and large-format materials, the Archives Assistant helps ensure that Team Penskeโ€™s legacy is accurately documented, properly preserved, and accessible for future generations. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about historical preservation within a dynamic motorsports environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Process collection materials through physical arrangement (sorting, boxing, labeling, and organizing)
  • Photograph artifacts and create detailed descriptions for database entry
  • Prepare artifacts for preservation using proper archival care methods
  • Digitize records and photographs using scanning equipment
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure consistency within the archive database
  • Assist in organizing and storing materials in accordance with archival best practices

Collection Materials Include:

  • Trophies
  • Team apparel
  • Helmets
  • Photographs, negatives, and slides
  • Magazines, programs, catalogs, and related printed materials
