Role Overview
As an Application Engineer, you play a critical role in supporting the deployment, integration, and optimization of Tennant's Autonomous Mobile Robotics (AMR) and Connected Services solutions. You'll work directly with customers, sales teams, autonomy partners and internal stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and performance of our advanced technologies across global markets.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that blends technical expertise with solution-oriented thinking to drive adoption and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for robotic solutions, including configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
  • Collaborate with Autonomy Partner(s), Sales and Product Management to understand customer requirements and tailor solutions accordingly
  • Conduct on-site and remote training sessions for customers and internal teams on AMR operation
  • Execute new software releases using established process including cross-functional collaboration and customer-facing messaging in alignment with Autonomy Partner(s)
  • Assist in the development of technical documentation, training materials, and support resources
  • Analyze field data and customer feedback to identify improvement opportunities and inform product enhancements
  • Support global expansion initiatives by enabling successful deployments in new markets
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives to improve integration between hardware, software, and cloud services
  • Represent the technical voice of the customer in internal meetings and product development discussions

Required Skills
  • Strong technical aptitude with a passion for robotics, automation, and connected technologies
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, especially in customer-facing settings
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to translate customer needs into actionable technical solutions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with SAP and cloud platforms is a plus

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required (Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred)
  • 3-5 years of experience in application engineering, technical support, or field engineering
  • Experience working with autonomous systems, industrial equipment, or IoT platforms
  • Familiarity with direct and distributor sales models; experience in cleaning or mobile equipment industries preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results through cross-functional collaboration
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%; must be able to work at both Eden Prairie and Golden Valley locations as needed

Total Compensation = Pay range + Benefits
Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Tennant Sales and Service Co. reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity. The salary range reflects both entry into the role and future growth. Total Compensation = Base Salary + Benefits
