HVAC Applications Engineer - Renewable Systems
Minneapolis, MN | Direct Hire | $115-135k

Konik is partnering with a fast-growing local startup focused on providing advanced sustainable heating and cooling technologies and is seeking an HVAC Applications Engineer to join its growing team. This is a unique opportunity to join a mission-driven, scaling organization developing innovative energy systems that significantly reduce carbon emissions across commercial, industrial, and multi-family facilities.
This is a highly visible, cross-functional engineering role positioned between engineering, sales, operations, and R&D. The Applications Engineer will help integrate complex renewable systems into customer environments while translating technical engineering concepts into practical, customer-facing solutions.

HVAC Applications Engineer – Renewable Systems Responsibilities:

  • Support the integration of renewable an HVAC systems into customer mechanical infrastructure and building systems
  • Coordinate system applications involving pumps, valves, sensors, controls packages, flow requirements, and mechanical integration
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, operations, and R&D teams throughout project development and execution
  • Assist with technical proposals, submittals, presentations, and customer-facing documentation
  • Translate highly technical engineering and R&D information into practical customer-facing materials, specifications, and internal communication tools
  • Develop technical documentation, including schematics, installation guides, operational documentation, and training materials
  • Support field activities including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
  • Assist with performance calculations, system analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives across HVAC applications


HVAC Applications Engineer – Renewable Systems Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 3–10+ years of experience in HVAC systems, mechanical systems engineering, renewable energy systems, applications engineering, controls integration, or related technical environments
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or related CAD platforms
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience supporting customer proposals, technical sales support, or working in applications engineering functions is preferred
