Job description

Responsibilities & Expectations:

Integrated Power Services (IPS) is seeking a skilled and dedicated Application Engineer for Power Systems. The Application Engineer will perform technical sales support related to Field Service Projects and related repairs. As an Application Engineer, it is crucial to collaborate with the regional sales teams and customers. The inclusive yet decisive technical leadership of the various proposal efforts will be key to the Florida region's performance and success.

Provide technical support for the Sales organization and liaise between the site team and the engineering team in the ITO (Inquiry to order) phase of Standby Generator Projects.

Responsible for travelling to the customer job sites to support job walks for technical specification reviews and to obtain data collection to support the engineered technical solution.

Own the development of job costing, to support pricing and execution of the project scope of work.

Analyze customer requirements and develop technical solutions for standby generator systems (diesel, natural gas, hybrid systems, etc.)

Assist with proposals, technical solution development, interfacing with field engineers and providing customer insights and market intelligence on pricing, scope of work and execution actions.

Provide excellent technical expertise related to Standby Generator stators, rotors, excitation systems, monitoring devices and peripheral components.

Ability to oversee labor, crew members and contractors supporting high quality performance levels in service to all methods/procedures related to the defined scope of work.

Perform casual field engineering service inspections and offer insights on possible services required to customers including generator stator rewinding and all related tasks.

Support the Risk process at the ITO stage with input on project costing, scope, schedule, and execution risks.

Ensure designs comply with applicable standards (NFPA 70, NFPA 110, NEC, local codes, etc.)

Generate reports, drawings, and engineering calculations as required

Identify product failures and lead the identification of possible root causes to support the failure analysis.

Qualifications and Competencies:

Bachelor's degree in engineering

Licensed Engineer Certification or eligibility, preferred

Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in Standby Generator Services

Proven leadership skills and ability to effectively manage a matrix team

Ability to anticipate events and develop adaptive strategies/tactics

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability and willingness to travel 25-40% of the time, as required

Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid passport and driver's license

Knowledge of generator sizing, load analysis, and power system design

Knowledge of power distribution, utilization equipment and application considerations including the various types of switchgear, relays, breakers, transformers, motors, generators (including control & excitation) and variable speed drives

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications

Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, and other relevant codes
