Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Material Coordinator to support Alabama Power’s Power Delivery Distribution and overhead fiber make-ready work. This role will be based full-time at the General Services Complex in Calera, AL, with occasional visits to material yards across the state. The Material Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring that materials are ordered, tracked, and delivered accurately and on time to meet construction schedules.


Key Responsibilities
  • Material Planning & Ordering

    • Review engineering prints and project documents to determine material needs.

    • Requisition and order materials to support construction and make-ready work.

  • Logistics & Coordination

    • Coordinate material deliveries to ensure alignment with project schedules.

    • Communicate regularly with suppliers, storerooms, and field teams by phone and email.

  • Inventory & Records Management

    • Track inventory, material orders, and project data using spreadsheets, Maximo, TEAMS, and other internal systems.

    • Conduct periodic reviews of material levels at yards statewide.

    • Redline field changes and update records to ensure data accuracy.

  • Collaboration & Reporting

    • Provide timely updates on material status to field and project management teams.

    • Support compliance with organizational standards for documentation and reporting.


Required Skills & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking and reporting.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook for documentation and communication.

  • Strong computer skills and ability to quickly learn and use internal applications such as Maximo, TEAMS, and JETS.

  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in utility field work (electrical overhead distribution) or storeroom logistics.

  • Familiarity with utility material management processes and construction workflows.

  • Ability to adapt to changing project schedules and requirements.


Work Environment
  • Office-based at Calera, AL (General Services Complex).

  • Occasional field visits to material yards across Alabama.
