Duration:  3 Years

Position Overview

Alabama Power is seeking a skilled Right of Way Document Specialist II to support Land Acquisition activities across the Alabama Power service territory.

This role provides administrative, research, and documentation support for multiple acquisition projects. The ideal candidate has experience in land records, title research, document management systems, and is comfortable working with deeds, easements, and conveyance documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Land Acquisition Support

  • Provide administrative support for multiple acquisition projects
  • Assist team members with scheduling, invoice processing, and timekeeping administration
  • Prepare pre-survey lists in support of acquisition activities
  • Assist with landowner mailouts and track certified mail receipts

Document Management & Compliance

  • Assemble and maintain project files in accordance with land acquisition procedures
  • Ensure files are maintained per land procedures and properly prepared for closeout
  • Input and update supporting data accurately within the document management system
  • Perform quality control reviews and system updates
  • File and retrieve documentation from Alabama Power’s document vault

Title Research & Recordation

  • Perform online and courthouse title research
  • Read and interpret land descriptions, deeds, easements, and conveyance documents
  • Conduct landowner verification through online title research
  • Process online recordation of acquisition documents in appropriate counties
  • Assist with courthouse recordation when online options are unavailable

Documentation Preparation

  • Prepare acquisition documentation for execution by Right of Way agents
  • Review executed documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Conduct document research within document management systems

Required Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience as a Document Specialist or in land rights-related fields
  • Title research experience or demonstrated ability to read and interpret land conveyance documents
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work under time pressures
  • Valid driver’s license
