As a Payroll Specialist, you'll be an essential part of ensuring our employees are paid accurately and on schedule. In this role, you'll collect, review, and process weekly employee time records while ensuring compliance with company policies and all federal, state, and local payroll regulations. Purpose
Following company policy and adhering to Federal, State and Local laws/regulations, Payroll Specialists ensure employees' pay is processed timely and correctly. This role handles collecting, reviewing, and entering employees' hours each week.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains confidential payroll records and files.
- Manages timecards, time entry and makes entries into the company timekeeping software and systems
- Updates and organizes systems to manage payroll information
- Processes and enter garnishments and support orders
- Perform weekly and quarterly reconciliations of the payroll accounts
- Review New Hire Information for Accuracy
- Assist with Tax Setup for State, Local, and SUI
- Processes final checks for terminated and laid-off employees
- Performs other duties as assigned or required
Requirements
Education:
- High School diploma or GED
Experience:
• 2+ years' experience in payroll, accounting, or similar role with responsibility for data entry
• Experience with ADP Vantage and JD Edwards a plus
Skills/Knowledge:
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, specifically Microsoft Excel
- Advanced knowledge of payroll procedures, laws, taxes, and best practices
- Advanced attention to detail
- Advanced data entry skills
- Expert communication skills
Language Skills:
Must be able to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence and memos and the ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
