Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO)

Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Schedule: Monday-Friday | Day Shift (No Weekends)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Sign-On / Relocation: Available on a case-by-case basis
Compensation: Up to $165,000 annually + 17.5% performance-based bonus

Position Overview

A respected acute care healthcare organization in southern New Hampshire is seeking an experienced Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) to provide executive nursing leadership within a 330-bed acute care hospital and Level III Trauma Center.

Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer, the ACNO plays a critical leadership role in overseeing inpatient nursing operations and designated service lines. This leader is responsible for driving quality outcomes, enhancing patient experience, strengthening staff engagement, and supporting strategic growth initiatives while upholding a mission centered on clinical excellence and compassionate care.


Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with executive nursing leadership to guide nursing operations and strategic initiatives

  • Provide oversight for inpatient and Med/Surg service lines and nursing leadership teams

  • Drive quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives

  • Lead patient experience and service excellence programs

  • Develop, mentor, and support nursing directors and managers

  • Support workforce planning, recruitment, and retention strategies

  • Participate in capital planning, growth initiatives, and facility expansion projects

  • Foster strong physician collaboration and interdisciplinary teamwork


Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years of nursing leadership experience in an acute care hospital

  • Minimum 5+ years in a supervisory nursing role

  • Required: Inpatient/Med/Surg Director-level experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - Required

  • Master's Degree in Nursing - Required

  • Active RN license (New Hampshire or compact-eligible)

  • Demonstrated career stability (no interim assignments or frequent job changes)
