Job description

Purpose:

The Director of Internal/External Account Management within the Sales and Distribution organization will report to the VP-Business Development and Account Management Leader. This role will promote the sale of annuity products and will work in partnership with the VP-Account Managers to expand key customer relationships. In addition, serving as the Key Account Manager for primarily "Tier 2" Distributors (and potentially Tier 1) will be a top priority for the individual in this position. Although based in West Des Moines, this position will require travel approximately 1/3rd of the time. This role will work closely with all functional areas in Athene to include marketing, sales/on-boarding manager, product management, operations, customer service and compliance in order to ensure Distributor preferred service levels. Maintaining successful business relationships with key accounts through frequent and effective communication is expected. This individual will work closely with the Internal Account Manager to coordinate special projects internally to ensure key Distribution Partners' needs are met. Finally, the Internal Account Manager role will help direct the activities of home office sales support to achieve stated production goals and sales objectives.

Accountabilities:

  • Working closely with the other Directors of Account Management, serve as the Account Management Team liaison with all functional areas to include marketing, sales on-boarding manager, product management, operations, customer service and legal/compliance
  • Proactively manage a package of "Tier 2" (and potentially some Tier 1) Key Distribution relationships as defined by the NSM and your Manager
  • Coordinate new or enhanced product submissions and important Athene communications with Financial Institution Distributors
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting for Sales/Account Management including important metrics to Athene and key customers
  • Work closely with the CRM/Salesforce Manager and Internal Sales Team to manage and maintain partner key contact/Rep lists
  • In collaboration with the on-boarding manager and operations BRM team, prioritize and expedite launches of new Distribution Partners
  • Marshall resources across the organizations to drive high service standards; deliver consistent and effective communication
  • Work closely with External Account Managers and Marketing team help to prioritize marketing initiatives and execute successfully
  • Leverage Distributor and Athene promotional opportunities, and stay abreast of competitor marketing activities/programs
  • Coordinate Marketing and Sales teams in preparation for National Key Distributor Conferences and Industry events


Qualifications and Experience:

  • 7+ years annuity industry experience.
  • FINRA Series 6 preferred.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office including: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
  • Required travel time: approximately 20-30% (balance of time in West Des Moines office).
  • Strong communication and analytical sales.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet key distributor needs, sales/marketing objectives and achieve specific production objectives.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management as well as other departments in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrate confidence and executive presence in external and internal business interactions.
  • Detail oriented, well organized and a self-starter with high energy.
  • Excellent organization and project management skills.
  • Exceptional client service skills.
  • Experience with Financial Institutions/Broker-Dealers strongly preferred.
  • BS/BA preferred.
