An Account Executive in tech is a sales professional responsible for managing relationships with clients and driving sales of technology products or services. They work to understand the unique needs of each client, present solutions, negotiate contracts, and ensure customer satisfaction. Their role often involves collaborating closely with technical teams and other departments to deliver tailored solutions. Account Executives typically focus on building long-term relationships and meeting or exceeding sales targets within their assigned territory or customer base.

How does an account executive in tech typically collaborate with other teams to drive client success?

Account Executives in the tech sector frequently work cross-functionally, collaborating with sales engineers, customer success managers, and product teams to tailor solutions that fit client needs. Job description

Overview:

LEAF Commercial Capital, a subsidiary of M&T Bank, is seeking an Account Executive to originate and grow technology equipment financing and leasing business through channel partners and customer relationships. This role is responsible for identifying opportunities, structuring and closing transactions, and building strong partnerships that help technology providers offer flexible financing solutions for hardware, software, cloud, and as-a-service offerings.

We are seeking an Account Executive with experience leveraging lease and finance solutions through technology channel partners, including Managed Service Providers (MSPs), OEMs, resellers, and Value-Added Resellers (VARs). While this is a sales-focused role, success requires a strong operational mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to learn, retain, and follow organizational processes. An understanding of customer procurement and budgeting cycles, as well as vendor order management processes, is essential.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with technology vendors, MSPs, OEMs, VARs, resellers, and other channel partners.

  • Prospect, qualify, and close equipment finance and leasing opportunities through phone, email, virtual, and in-person interactions.

  • Structure financing solutions that meet customer needs while adhering to credit and risk guidelines.

  • Educate partners on LEAF's financing programs, tools, and value proposition.

  • Understand customer procurement, budgeting, purchasing, and vendor order fulfillment processes to help facilitate successful transactions.

  • Develop knowledge of technology financing, including hardware, software, cloud, cybersecurity, and subscription-based business models.

  • Collaborate with Credit, Operations, Pricing, Asset Management, Legal, and other internal teams to ensure a seamless customer and partner experience.

  • Maintain proficiency in internal systems, partner portals, and sales tools.

  • Ensure compliance with all risk, regulatory, and internal control requirements.

  • Support a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and customer focus.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree and 1+ year of sales experience; or a combined minimum of 5 years of higher education and/or work experience, including 1+ year of sales experience.

Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while adhering to established processes and procedures.

Analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Experience in equipment leasing, technology finance, commercial lending, or channel sales.

  • Experience working with MSPs, OEMs, VARs, resellers, or other technology channel partners.

  • Understanding of technology procurement processes, vendor sales cycles, and recurring revenue business models.

  • Knowledge of technology products, software solutions, and financing structures.

Why LEAF?

For more than 20 years, LEAF has helped technology providers grow sales through customized financing solutions that make technology investments easier, more flexible, and more affordable. Our solutions help partners streamline the buying process, support recurring revenue models, and create better outcomes for customers.
